Quick Update

Still no baby. 3 Days until due date. The most they let you go overdue here is 11 Days so we will absolutely have a baby within the next 2 weeks. Mailie is really getting fed up with being pregnant and can not wait for the baby to come. We are going to try some Raspberry leaf tea to try and induce labor, and any other tricks we can think of.
Nothing has really changed work wise, just trying to keep up with what we have going now, not taking the time to create any new leads, which I wish I was but I just don't seem to have the time...
I have been to the Gym once in the past week, that is more depressing then anything else could be. I plan on going today while Mailie and Alexe get a pedicure.
We have been having lots of fun lately. We bought a card game called Killer bunnies, and it is seriously hillarious. We have played quite a few games now and it just gets more fun the more we learn about the cards, so we can strategize better. We had a Bbq on Saturday over at John and Sues and Jon & Gen were there also it was tons of fun.... we played Killer bunnies! Then we had another Bbq on Sunday at our house and had Jen & Mike over, as well as Miles & Devand. We also had another night where we had Miles, Devand & Mike (different Mike) over and we all played Killer Bunnies, Devand used a huge meteor and killed all the bunnies on the table then put another bunny out and took the last carrots... but Mailie had the magic carrot and won! Too much fun. Anyways that has been the highlight of our week.

This is becoming regular

It looks like my regular posts seem to be about 1 a month. I really will try to post more often in the future but I keep saying that so for now expect once a month type frequency. I will keep the same format as last time it seemed to work well.

Mom & Baby
We started having doctors appointments every week, the baby is measuring perfectly, 36cm's at 36 weeks, 37 @ 37, 38 @ 38, should be around 7.5 pounds if we go to 40 weeks, so she is not as big as we though. Mailie is happy to hear that and so am I. The baby is still kicking like crazy, blowing our minds with the strength of the kicks and stretches. Mailie is complaining more then ever, with summer here its incredibly hot and I had to install an air conditioner in our room... that was fun. She is very swollen all over but her hands and feet are the worst. Her feet are swollen so much that they remind me honestly of my granny's feet, which is not a good thing. They don't hurt her any more then usual and her blood pressure is fine so nothing really to worry about, just inconvenient. Other then that, still in high spirits, the birth and baby classes we have been going to have been quite helpful in making us more excited then scared about the baby coming... which could be anytime now.

Work & Money
Work is starting to pick up, we sold our Kincora listing and one of the Springbank Hill Villas so if everything closes fine then that should be around $8k, which is more then I made in 3 months at TNS so it could be worse. We caught a buyer from our Garrison Green listing and also landed another builder with 1 to sell now at full commission (12k) and another next year. Amazing house, I love it and want to buy it... but its $679k so I need to sell a few others first! Otherwise Mailie has finished work, so we are now waiting patiently for our pittance of Maternity pay to start coming middle of next month. Savings are dwindling but they are still there...

Gym & Personal
I have not done as well as last month but am not doing too badly. Mailie is now on Mat leave, and her niece Alexe got here last Wednesday. So since then I have only been to the gym once, it seems really hard to find the time....Its OK my body could probably use a few extra days off so I am not stressing it yet, but I do need to find a new schedule that works for me. Spirits are high in the house, still lots of laughing but we are clearly stressed out, a little short tempered and Mailie never had any patience to begin with. I try to keep it all light and smiles and I think I do a good job. We just bought a card game called Killer Bunnies, and tried to play it tonight, I personally think it will be tons of fun if anyone gives it a chance. It is a bit complicated to get a first but seems super fun. We are going over to John & Sues for a BBQ on Saturday which I think will be lots of fun and we are looking forward to it. Trying to do fun things with Alexe, been to the beach, to chinook, to our favorite Sushi place etc. Still debating over buying a Wii. We sold a bunch of crap and made about $500 from Kijiji so we have the money now but still don't want to spend it! Anyways in short things could always be better but are still Great!
And yes I do mow the lawn every week.

Sorry

I know there are some of you who like to read our blog to check up on our lives and I have to apologize for the complete lack of dedication on my part lately.
I am going to try and sum up since the last post over 3 weeks ago in categories.

Mom & Baby:
We have had 2 doctors appointments in the last 3 weeks as ordered. Everything is normal and I am actually starting to become impressed with our doctor... which is a complete change of tunes for me. Normally we have to wait for over an hour to get in the room, then another hour until she comes to see us, making our trip usually just over 2 hours... we literally have to pack a lunch. This last time we were in and out in about 45 minutes which I find acceptable. She seemed like a real bitch before (excuse my language) and the truth is she is... that being said she has been nice to us these last two appointments. Also she was Bang on with two things. First Mailie had a lump in her breast and was concerned, so at the first appointment the doctor checked it out, and said "it seems like a blocked tube, here is a ultrasound requisition form, if its still there in 2 weeks go for an ultrasound but I think it will go away" she was right, on 2nd appointment it was gone. Secondly Mailie's right hand has been hurting terribly and going numb and all kinds of strange things, she told this to the doctor who asked her a few questions, then said immediately its carpal tunnel syndrome, these 3 finders feel numb, this is what happens when I touch here etc... was bang on and I admit I was impressed.
Baby is good, measuring up nicely (I think still a bit big) and is in a head down position which is awesome. She has been kicking up a storm lately and causing Mailie to say "Ouch!" a lot haha. I swear I basically had her foot in between my fingers and I felt so close to her it was incredible. Mailie is tired and sore but altogether holding up pretty well and in good spirits.
She has made a new friend which I think is awesome. Her work hired a replacement for part of her job while she is on Maternity leave. Her name is Jenn and she is from Quebec City near where Mailies sister lives, so they hit if off right away. She seems like a genuinely good person and someone who appreciates Mailies friendship.
We had our first Birth & Baby prenatal Class this Tuesday... it was "Interesting" not at all what I expected, basically a bunch of couples listening to a British lady babel on about labor etc. Most of the couples seem completely clueless and we feel a bit out of place. I still think we will get something useful out of it... and we already paid so there you have it. The one thing I really don't like is that it is terribly far away (about 45 minutes) cost $7.50 in parking every time and we don't get home until 10PM...
Also Mailie & I both went for massages at spice for an incredible deal of only $35 for an hour (I managed to talk him into 1.5 hours) Seems like a pretty good massage therapist and we both enjoyed it and will be going again this time for $50/hour.

Work/Money
Our financial situation is not as good as it could be... we are in no fear of going into debt or anything but our savings are slowing going down. Mailie is stressing about it and I admit I am a bit too.
That being said, Dean and I now have 3 listings, 1 of them a builder with 7 units in total to sell so things are looking up. I have several potential buyers, all at the hand holding stage but all with some potential to buy in the near future.
We are trying to implement the "Jar" system of saving/spending. We have divided our essential and non essential spending up and will draw from different accounts depending on the type of spending we will be doing. Our spending is still way out of control in my opinion with our average spending over the last 6 months being $7,200/month... insane...
Mailie going on Maternity leave will put even more strain on our finances, but I think things should start paying off soon enough with Real Estate that we should be fine... not flourishing like I want to be, but at least keeping our head above water for the time being.

Gym:
That is one area I have managed to keep up, I have been going at least 3 usually 4 times a week now for 3 months again and I truly feel great (SORE AS HELL BUT GREAT)
I have started to push myself a lot again with heavier and more intense workouts that are paying off. Although I am still weighing in around 250, I have put a lot of muscle back on and have shifted some weight back from my gut to my chest. I am still WAY bigger in the belly than I want to be, but for now until Mailie is ready to ease up on the eating of junk, I am content to put on some muscle and plan for the future.
My left shoulder has been giving me a ton of grief and I had not been able to do shoulders for almost a month, it was also affecting my chest exercises as basically i was unable to lift my left arm above my head and push...This week is honestly just said to hell with it, its not getting better anyways and just worked through the pain, after the first set it became better so maybe that's just what it needed. Right now I can barely move and am very happy.

Personal:
I went to a "Stregies for Success" seminar, and listned to an accountant and a marketing guru talk about how to improve profits in your business. I got free prime rib lunch and ended up winning the draw for a nice canteen and a calculator (the canteen is pretty sweet, and I did need one) Their premise is they evaluate your company, tell you how to improve efficiencies, do more/different marketing, increase your prices, and then go on this big thing about making more sales, getting your sales staff to perform better... I was the one putting in the most input and at the end on the feedback sheet I wrote that the person they are missing in their team is someone who can evaluate their staff, train their sales guys, and improve the efficiency of their salary workers.... basically they need ME... I did note that I would be willing to consult... we will see where it goes, I don't expect anything.
Weekends are now full with open house at the Builders show home... it was crazy busy last weekend with almost 50 couples/people through and it was very positive. It is advertised in the herald, and told of signs and lots of good traffic from people who need to sell their houses in a community where an entry level house is over 1/2 Mil. These houses we are selling are $650-750 with retired living in mind, 50+ community with bareland condo's with beautiful bungalows ranging from 1500 sqft to 3300 walkout basement. Top of the line everything with huge en suites, granite, in floor heating, hot water on demand etc... just gorgeous.
On a side note, the deal I had in the works for TNS has fell through, they were unable to get the lease for the equipment, so there goes a $5,000 commission + around $200/month residual. O well... Shit happens.
To end on a high note, Mailie's mother and niece have booked their tickets to come visit. Iane will be here from the 2nd to the 19th of August and Alexe from July 15th for 3 weeks. AND I finally found a lawn mower... an awesome 4.0 HP 2 in 1 with mulcher and bag + a basically new Weed Wacker FL20 (good one) with a 1/2 tank of gas which rips the heck out of stuff... all for $80 delivered! I am such a good salesman.
I mowed the lawn, weed wacked, pulled weeds from our stones in the back, sprayed the ones I could not pull, and then last night I watered the lawn..> I am a homeowner!

Again

Here we go again with a long time in between posts.
Not as much has happened this week...
Lets start with Sunday. I went golfing! I shot a 113!! WOOHOO that sucks I know but its my 2nd round in 2 years...and I had lots of fun. I went with John & Sue and Sue's nephew Jason. They are all better golfers than me but I kept up OK, and was hitting the ball very well, just could not putt worth ****... at least 10 times my put rimmed the hole, and at least as many times I simply missed and went further away than when I started...
Anyways so that was Sunday, on Wednesday we went to a free dinner put on by the Fire Safety Group of Alberta & Masterguard... I invited Simon & Wendy, Tyler & Daniele and Jenn from Mailie's work. We all sat through a 1.5 hour presentation on fire safety etc and got free dinner. Mailie and I promptly spent over $1200 on top of the line smoke & heat detectors, Co2 monitors and fire extinguishers... and a bat in case we have to break a window...Now I sleep better, and my pants are lighter because my pockets are empty!
Saturday I helped Simon and Wendy move their business (Spice) to their new location, which is WAY nicer than where they were before, and 3 times the size. Ate some iced cream and called it a day. Sunday had an open house, totally dead, I had 1 person through and they were a Realtor, then I went to leave 20 minutes early, got a call 20 minutes later and had to GO BACK! and ended up being there 45 minutes LATE. But I think I got a good potential client out of the deal so that's awesome.
My Real estate endeavors are going well, Dean and I have had 2 appointments and got one of the listings, we just had our first showing on it today. They are a couple getting divorced and she will have to buy a new house also so it will end up being a double dip deal so that is fantastic.... IT WORKS!
My knee has been killing me all week, I cant quite place when or where I hurt it but I have an suspicion it was on the hack squat machine with over 600 pounds on it and I pushed up with one leg and locked out my knee... then kept working out. So that may have had something to do with it. Anyways it is finally starting to feel better now. So in a nutshell that's been our week. Tons of things I missed I am sure, maybe I will remember them and fill in the blanks later.

Long Time

Its been a week since my last blog post on here!
On Saturday I did an open house... very slow, then Mailie and I went and bought a patio set at Home Depot (Awesome glass table & 4 chairs for only $150! Special Buy)
We could not fit the dang thing in our car so I called John with his Pacifica and asked if they could come a bit earlier and pick up the table for us. We then went and got the food for the bbq and met them back at Home Depot to load up the Patio Set.
We had the family over, John and Sue along with Jon and Guinevere for some Bison burgers. I added Worcester sauce and they turned out very well.
John & Sue ended up picking up, delivering, and setting up the Patio Set while we got the food ready, they both ate two burgers as compensation.
Guinevere is Pregnant, so we are going to have two new Ashby's in the world next year which is just awesome!
We went to the doctor again on Thursday, just a regular checkup but always good to hear the babies heartbeat. Oh and I went to the dentist for the first time in at least 6 years (I think it has been more like 8) I am now covered under Mailie's benefits and for the first time in my life I have coverage!! WOOHOO its a bloody good thing because it cost $472 to clean my freaking teeth!
After 6+ years of no dentist, I have NO cavities and the hygienist told me I had the best gum's she had seen in years.
I started working full time at home on Thursday, it was a slow start but I got a few appointments already so I am sure it will not take me long to get back in the groove.
This morning we had the lady from the insurance company show up and take our blood, urine, and blood pressure. All seemed good. We had to fast - not eat - for as long as possible before she arrived. *we scheduled her for 10am on saturday morning figuring we would just wake up when she got here and all would be good...* I was fine but Mailie had to eat, so 45 minutes before the lady got here I made Mailie her shake... I hope the results are still ok! Mailie had nice low blood pressure and mine was bang on normal 120/70.
I tried to get the lawn mower running (the people we bought the house from left theirs behind). I borrowed some gas from Mark next door and together we tried getting the blasted thing going... to no avail... 300 Pulls and a big blister later I gave up and borrowed his, which started in 1 pull! Try again next weekend I guess...That's about it for the week.

Anniversary

Friday May 15th was our anniversary. In the morning I gave Mailie her card, and then after work we came home. I bought Mailie a dozen roses and two madagascar beanie babies, the giraffe and the hippo (they fell in love at the end of the second movie) and Mailie made me a photo frame with pictures of us in it.
We went out to dinner at our favorite restaurant Pheonix Grill (and we had reservations which you are not suppose to be able to get there but I worked my magic) They also gave us free desert. Then we went and saw Star Trek and we both enjoyed it. It was a great day.

Dinner with Annette

We had Mailies co-worker and friend Annette over for dinner last night while she is here on business until this afternoon. It was tons of fun, she is awesome and we had a great time telling stories etc. We had new york steaks and spanish rice and salad - which is Annettes favorite meal and I had no idea, then Mailie pulled our vanila slices from co-op for desert which I had never bought before and i guess that is Annettes favorite desert also so dinner was a hit! Very glad we had a chance to have her over while she was here.

Life Insurance

So we finally got life insurance.
After tossing around a few different ideas of what we needed and what company to get it with we finally decided to go with 750k each of 25 term with our current insurance company the co-operators.
Originally when we started out on the "we need life insurance" quest, we were looking for 25k whole life and about 300k 10 year term... quotes had varied around 100 per month for the two of us for this... and it really is not enough.
Then we looked at Universal Life policy for 500k (I had talked to a WFG guy and this is what they push... for "tax shelter" purposes) honestly I really like universal life policy's for a few reasons but it simply does not fit into our current need...If we had extra money sitting around earning interest we were paying tax on then ya sure... but we dont have extra money period so this is not the right solution. Then last night we looked at a few different options, up to 1.3mil 25yr term and 25k whole life on me and 870k and 25whole life on Mailie. This was just over 200 per year and a little much!
The whole life portion I really started thinking about.
That was about $50/month for 25k whole life for each of us... there was some savings portion to it but I wont get into that...
with 750k 25 year term the $25,000 would not make a significant difference if something were to happen in that 25 years, and After the 25 years not only will our needs be completely different but 25k then is like 10k now and would not do a damn anyways... So after carefull reflection and alot of analyzing (and great advice from our friend at co-operators) we decided on the 750k 25yr term which in total should be around 100/month total for the two of us... an easy number to swallow.

Stroller - Pooh

So I let my rule slide for Mothers day and Mailie went shopping for a stroller that we had seen a few times and decided was a good one. Mailie found it in a walmart flyer for $200 so we had checked on saturday for it but it rang in at $229, so decided we would go home and get the flyer and come back.
Well - Mailie went to another walmart on sunday and it said they had been on sale UNTIL saturday... and they were out anyways.
So after dinner Dalene and Mailie went out to yet another walmart and at the till it scanned up $229 - Mailie said NOPE here you go, it sais $200 - and she got it for $200 - Good job my love!

It is super nice whinnie the pooh stroller with the 3 in one baby seat attachment deal... it even seems to have suspension... quite fancy. Made by Greco. Not incredibly "Girly" but its pooh so thats ok. We put it together and we love it.
Mailie managed to get her family in Quebec to pool together and send us the money to buy it which is just Awesome!

Mothers Day Breakfast

For breakfast I wanted to take Mailie to Craving Market for their mothers day brunch, I got reservations for noon, or to Cora's - Which does not take reservations and they said it was very busy. Mailie wanted to check out the line at Cora's before going so we swang by and saw that the line was out the door and around the corner past the patio... so we headed to Cravings. When we got there and were starting to get out of the car Mailie decided it was not worth $30 each to eat there as she probably would not eat very much, and instead she had a craving for Tim Hortons breakfast... so away we went to Timmy's just in time for eggs and cheese on a croisant x 2 each with a donut and french vanilla coffee for Mailie. The guys at Timmy's could not take thier eyes off of Mailies boobs! - I admit neither could I but thats besides the point. We had a nice breakfast, then went looking for garage sales and checked out some huge houses in Cranston. We found one garage sale with a bunch of kids stuff but it was all for older children. We called our mothers to wish them a happy mothers day and we went home to meet Mat & Dalene for our evening plans (they were very late) and so we ended up cleaning a bit... I tried to stop Mailie from cleaning by taking over what she was cleaning, I would finish and turn around and she would be cleaning something else so I would take over that, then turn around again and... you get the point. So WE cleaned the house for about 30 minutes then I sat in the sun for a while and then our guests arrived. Wow I am not too good at story telling sometimes!

Mothers Day Dinner

So Mat & I decided we would cook for the girls for mothers day. We feigned a day of "gaming" Mat brought over Call of Duty 4 & his PS3 controller (we did end up playing a bit while cooking haha) We took care of Dilan and sent Mailie and Dalene shopping with some spending cash and in Mailies case the credit card! When the girls had left Mat and I promptly went shopping. I made my famous cheese rosea pasta sauce from scratch and tried it with chicken and spegatinni. It was good but better with sea food then chicken. We bought chocolate covered fruit and some mini quiches and did those up nicely for appetisers and desert. Dinner was a hit, we had a good time and laughed when Dilan tried to pronouce Harry Percy (he cant say r... you try it)
I cleaned up with Mat's help and then the girls went shopping again and Mat and I got a chance to play some games.

Evening

Today I got home at 6ish - Mailie went to Falyns to get her hair done and watch Bella while Falyn cleaned her house.
I was planning on playing some games with Miles but he was unavailable so instead I did some constructive things!
I cleaned the house, picked up everything, changed the garbage's, arranged the laundry, vacuumed! did the bottles, put the dishes in the dishwasher, cleaned the toilets! that was about it for the cleaning, so that took an hour.\
Then I called Dan and chatted for a bit & I ate dinner.
Then I prepared for my open house tomorrow by printing all my necessary documents.
Then I did play a bit of games, 30 minutes or so against the computer, but got bored so I blogged for a bit! Now I am going to pick Mailie up before she blows a gasket over there.

Appointments

Had a couple great appointments with TNS - One that I am giving an 80% chance to close, with a 5500 commission and some residual so that would be great. Should know early next week.
Also today I had a good meeting with Warren Jack from the Co-Operators and there could be an opportunity there for a few things, huge telecom sale, potential office purchase and a universal life policy with a few benefits over and above the one from WFG.
All and All a good 2 days.

Doctors Appoitment

We saw Dr Manahan yesterday afternoon. We got some good news from the results of the blood test and ultrasound. The coriplexus cyst is gone which we are very happy about (we knew it was nothing to worry about but of course we did anyways) Also the baby possitioned with her head down and the ultrasound tech did not point out anything about the heart shaped uterus so thats good! We did find out that Mailie seems to be Anemic again so we need to get her on an iron supplement ASAP.

Boogyman!!!

We watched Boogyman 3 last night... I have not see the first two but # 3 had horrible acting, cheap special effects and a plot that was as thick as salt water. But it actually was kind of freaky! We watched it right before bed and I admit I was checking out shadows when we went to bed haha!

Wake up!

I could not get up this morning...I slept ok but did not go to bed until late. I think I was not looking forward to this morning. Today I met the new owner of TNS - Mashal Anderson... Seems like a very sharp guy, and he has a good little investment here. I was very honest with him and he appreciated it. We will see what comes out of it...

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

We got a Basinette.

Mailie picked up a Basinette on Sunday for $60 at a 2nd hand store (BEFORE she was cut off) We also got the rest of the baby stuff from Falyn. There is an ugly white dresser in the basement that needs painting and some new toys etc.
Oh and I learnt after the basinette was bought that Falyn is going to give us her play pen... which works as a basinette... so now we will have 2.

Meeting

I know I have been quite off topic here lately so I will try to get back on it today or tomorrow. But First...
This morning I had a meeting with a Breakfast Club...5 Motivated professionals who get together once a week to share leads and chat. I think the potential is quite large there and I would enjoy being a part of it. Its $250 every 6 months (covers your breakfast) and it is exclusive to your area of expertise... so I would be the only telephone sales guy there 9IF I WOULD CONTINUE TO SELL TELEPHONES THAT IS)... problem... there is already a Realtor - And he is the leader! I don't think I will be a part of it, as much as I like the idea, but I will continue to think about it over the next day or two. Feedback would be great.

CUT OFF!

Mailie is officially cut off from making, thinking about making, or even thinking about thinking about making any type of baby purchases.
Mailie is stressing out about all the "THINGS" we need to buy...
We have so many "THINGS" already it boggles the mind.
I am now officially in charge of all baby purchases until after the baby is born.
Any suggestions are appreciated as I will not take any lists or advice from Mailie as she is not suppose to have that topic in her brain at all.

Baby Necessities

I think there are only really 3 things that parents need to have a healthy, happy baby.
1 = Food = Milk
2 = Clothes
3 = Time
.. A Car seat is a need for safety if you are travelling in a car.
Everything else is simply a modern solution for convenience.
Things I believe would really help and would be a nice thing to have!

Lots of clothes, so we don't have to do laundry every 4 hours.
Stroller, High Chair, Bibs, Bottles, Diapers, Bassinet, Crib, Diaper Genie, Baby Bjorn, Change Table, Play Pen, Jolly Jumper, supporting infant chair.
Please comment on other things that are very useful.

TNS

Changes happening around here...
TNS has sold.
Paul has sold his shares and is leaving the company. This made my decision easier.
I have decided to quit TNS - I may stay on part time 100% commission to tie up loose ends but will not be coming to the office everyday and wasting my time surfing the internet...
I will work until the 15th of May and that will be the end of it.
I have shared this with Paul and he will pass it along to the new owner and my life just got a whole lot simpler.

Career Dilema

I am: a Realtor, a Telephony Sales Rep for TNS, a Consultant for Genesis Land Development Corp, a Co-Owner of a Relocation Business "Settled in Canada", an Online Internet Marketer, I have been approached by World Financial Group to be an Agency Owner, and I am tired and confused... I have myself stretched so thin in so many different directions I am not sure which way is up. On top of all that I am engaged with a Baby girl on the way and am desperately trying to get back in shape by going to the gym 4 times a week - no excuses.
So what to do?
My personal opinion is to work part time business development for TNS (develop relationships and find leads but do not actually sell anything), Focus on Real Estate 40 Hours a week and work on Internet Marketing in the down times (...where the heck is a down time right?)
What Mailie wants me to do: Real Estate 110% nothing else.
I love Real Estate; it is what I want to do for the rest of my life. So why can't I just take the plunge again (I already did it once!) and focus solely on something I enjoy.
I think the answer is I don't want to throw away any opportunities that I have already spent time and money developing. It’s the same reason I still have the box for my Blender, and every elastic band or twist tie I have ever came in contact with, or the charger for my cell phone from 2001... all stored in the basement. I have a hard time letting go of something that MIGHT be useful in the future, that I MAY have an opportunity to use without having to go out and spend money to buy a new one. I have so much crap I am never going to use and I KNOW it but I still have trouble letting it go.

Real Estate: I invested 10 Months and tens of thousands of dollars into already and it has paid me back.
TNS: I have invested nearly 3 months of my time and it has yet to show me any REAL potential... there is huge potential there I can see it... but I can't touch it... or spend it!
TNS Business Development: I have basically been doing this already, Networking and developing relationships with people in the business world in order to eventually generate leads for telephony sales... Why would I bother doing this for telephony when I could do it for Real Estate?
Genesis: I invested about a week of my time learning the product and a few more evenings going to launch parties etc... Again although there is Huge potential there I have not been able to see any of it... I have not really given it a fair chance but I feel it’s a long shot.
Settled in Canada: I have invested hundreds of hours, hundreds of dollars and a Relationship with a very good friend of mine who I really appreciate and do not want to lose over a business decision. It has potential... it has massive potential... and plays right into Real Estate, fits it like a glove... But I haven't seen anything from it... and everything I envision is a long time down the road... That being said this is the one I think will be the hardest to let go of just because of the possible stress on my friendship with Simon.
WFG Consultant: I looked at this 4 years ago... again has absolutely massive potential, bigger than any of the others, its helping people - what I enjoy... but it is alot of work up front on the Chance that it will work.
Internet Marketing: I just started and although I have probably spent 15 hours or so on Research and Development...its fun, it’s expressive and could end up being quite productive. I could give it up I am sure... but I think the whole thing is good mental exercise for me and is relaxing rather than stressful.
So what is the solution to my dilemma?
.
.
.

I think the only answer has to be the same one for all the crap that I save in the basement.
Get rid of everything I am never going to use...
But how do I decide what I am never going to use?
Develop a formula to come up with a probability for success or usefulness? A Risk vs. Reward type scale system? Maybe...
Just get rid of it all and start from scratch? - I really don’t want to do that...
What about just eliminating some of the Major time/space takers and prioritizing the remainders? - I think that’s the goal and not the process.
I am going to create a spreadsheet with columns for Time/Expenses/Rewards and try to assign measurable values to them. I will post it on here after I am done.

Change Table

Today we picked up a change table from Falyn's Mothers, its a nice wooden table with a drawer which I think will work out great. Falyn also has a bunch of baby clothes and a dresser which needs some painting so I guess I have a project to work on in the coming weeks. Hopefully I don't end up painting half of our deck!

Bump

Now we can really start to feel the baby poking out in a small bump. On the side of the belly you can almost feel the head, and I think she is actually Punching now also not just kicking. She is going to be an athlete for sure!

Movement

Last night for the first time I felt the baby move... not just kick, but push against my hand and move around, like the baby was stretching trying to get room. It was a completely different feeling from kicking, I can still feel it on my hand as I try to think about it.

Slang English Terms

Today I learnt about this blue collar subdivision of England, Cockney. The slang the brits use is already strange enough to Canadians, but people from Cockney are even hard for other brits to understand. The way their slang was derived was from rhymes. For instance. "Whinnie the Pooh; Rhymes with Shoe..." - Whinnie the pooh gets shortened to just Whinnie and now somehow Whinnie = Shoe, "hold on ive got to tie my whinnie"... There is TONS of that

Ultrasound Today

After the Fire

OK I will write a little more...
We spent the night of the fire... or what remained of the morning. Together on one couch sleeping comfortably. In the morning I went to Class (I was still in Real Estate School at this time and was about 30 minutes late!) That evening we stayed at Falyn's house... and we made a few calls to hotels etc trying to find a temporary place to stay. The next night we went the meeting at the community center where they told us that it would be more than a year to fix the building so we need to find a place to stay... That night (Friday the 16th) we found a furnished 2 bedroom condo on Banister road for $695 per week as a temporary solution. On Saturday I worked for a bit at Simons, came home with a dozen roses and Mailie started to cry (Nobody had ever bought her flowers before!) Iane, Mailies mother was scheduled to come visit for a week (yes I met her mother half a week into our relationship). She took an immediate likeing to me, we got along fantastic, We had tons of fun ate great etc.
We stayed in that appartment for 2 weeks and looked for another place to rent. We found a condo in Windsor Park (by chinook) very nice 2 bedroom for $1750/month (almost 3 times what we were paying at the Albert Park appartment!) We moved in that Friday (the 30th) slept on the floor with some sheets and then on the weekend had the movers bring in our stuff (Mailies stuff I had nothing!) And we were officially living together, still thinking we were dreaming but never wanting to wake up.

Night of the Fire - 3

We got to Miles' place probably close to 4 and laid on the 2 couches. After a few minutes we could not sleep I propped my head up and we started talking. Somehow we got to talking about how women always go for the Asshole, I asked if she thought I was an Asshole and she said "I dont think so" we continued to talk by this time I think I had figured out that I had a shot (YEEHAA) and that she was not taken. We started opening up to each other, things we probably never would have said in any other circumstances. I think I started by saying how if I saw her pulling up while I was (I parked in the back and she parked in the front) then I would take my time to hope and catch her in the hallway and get to say hello. She immediately admited she did the same. Then I admited that if I saw her doing laundry I would quickly take my garbage out so that I ran into her in the hall, she did the same with me! Then SHE admited first (this is the part that really got me) if she heard someone coming down the hall she would run to her door and look out the peep hole at me!!!!!!! I used to do that too!!! but my god never in a million years would I have thought she was doing that to me, I felt like a a freak (yes I know we were stalkers) Anyways so we basically found out that we had been attracted to each other for the entire 2.5 years even when we had been seeing someone else we were always on each others minds. We always thought the other was taken or was simply too good for us (I honestly never dreamed I would get a woman as beautiful as Mailie) so to try and make a long story short... I know... way too late... I asked her "Can I kiss you"... she said "yes please" and we moved in together 2 days later!

History - Night of the Fire - 1

On May 15th 2008 at around 12:30Am I woke up with the strange sensation "Snap Crackle Protein" I got up and went to the cupboard to get a protein shake or bar or whatever. I can still hear this crackling noise. Thinking it was someone having a bonfire, I go to my balcony and go outside (I was naked) - Saw an Ambulance accross the street driving Very slowly but no fire below... ducked back inside (Again i was naked...) Waited for the Ambulance to speed up and drive away and went back out onto my balcony. Looked around for the fire and saw on my neighbor to the right (south) that her balcony had a small fire going on it... maybe a foot and a half high. So I went back inside and got dressed... pondered for a few minutes what to do and went out into the hall. The lady from nextdoor was out there too and we both looked at each other and she sais "My balcony is on fire!" I said "I know I saw it!" Then I go back inside... she goes and sets off the fire alarm.
I go inside and start thinking what I will need in case the place burns down... (NO I DID NOT THINK TO GO GET A FIRE EXTINGUISHER!)
Grabbed my wallet, phone, watch and walked out the door again... hung around in the hallway hoping my super sexy neighbor accross the hall would come out to see what was going on. She did after a minute or so (in her cute pijamas), and I said ya there was really a fire on the balcony!. She went back inside for a sec and then we went and banged on a few doors, then went downstairs. We stayed together and she was cold (or at least ACTED cold) and I put my arm around her. She clung to me and we watched for a while as the fire spread. The fire trucks got there and I tried to tell them where the fire started etc... they insisted on bringing the hose all the way through the appartment, up 3 flights of stairs and down the hall... by that time the fire had spread quite a ways. I went to try and get some water out of my car but they would not let me by. Mailie was chatting with some other people, I came back and put my arm around her again!... Eventually they put out the fire... Brought a bus up for us to chill in for a while as they "secured" the building. We sat together on the bus and chatted a bit. ... This whole time she is stressing out and worried and all this and I am simply exstatic that I am holding onto this beautiful woman, thinking nothing but possitive things and have a HUGE smile on my face, talking about how the fire is only destroying physical possesions etc.
Mailie did not have a place to stay so I invited her to stay at my friend Miles house which was just a few minutes away. She agreed and we continued to wait unti we could get into the appartment to see the damage and see if we could recover any of our things before leaving.
We finally got into the appartment at 3ish or something like that (Mailie pointed out that we were holding hands at this point, I am sure she will comment). My wall was burn in my bedroom and roof had collapsed onto my bed, Mailies appartment was flooded by otherwise OK. We took a look then went to my car to go to Miles...

History - Before Fire

Background on Mailie and I and how we met...
This is going to be long so I will split it up.
We both lived in Albert Park appartments, accross the hall from each other for 2 and a Half years.
We said Hi to each other occasionally when we ran into each other in the hall or downstairs etc.
We chatted twice when the power went out, once for maybe 10 minutes when my buddy Miles was visiting. We went down the hall to Pat & Jims to get a lighter to light the candles Mailie had (Neither of us smoked and had no bbq lighter)
Other than that not much interaction. I heard her talking French in her appartment and always thought that would be a great way to introduce myself properly.

Pregnancy - Week 26 (I think)

This is to introduce Peanut Ashby and all baby's who have at one point been referred to as "Looking like a Peanut"
I will post the ultrasound picture that initialized this nickname and I am sure lots of parents will relate.
